John Heyn has been in photography for the last 32 years as both a photographer and an educator. A 1978 graduate of Kean University with a degree in Photographic and Graphic Arts Education, John has spent the last 30 years as the head photography instructor at Monmouth Regional High School.
John started Heyn Photography in 1988 after spending many years as a freelance wedding photographer for major studios throughout New Jersey. He has won numerous awards for his wedding work in both state and national print competitions, including the Fuji Masterpiece Award in 2002, the Wedding Photograph of the Year for the state of New Jersey in 2005, and Photographer of the Year for the state of New Jersey in 2006. Along the way John has accumulated many blue ribbons and Court of Honor Awards.
John is both a member of the Professional Photographers Association of New Jersey and the Professional Photographers of America. While involved with the PPANJ for the last 20 years John has served at every level of the association including state president in 2003. In 1997 John received the President's Award for Outstanding Service to the Association and in 1999 received his Associate Fellow of Photography degree. He followed this with the Fellow of Photography degree in 2006.
John has been a member of the PPA since 1988 and has been certified by that association since 1991. John's score on the certification exam that year was the second highest in the state and in the top ten in the country. He has also gone through recertification in 1996. 2001, and 2006.
He has been married to his wife, Cathleen, for 30 years and they have twin daughters, Katie and Kelly. |
